North star cup IV/22 - 10pt, 100 card Singleton

To kick off the summer, we decided to have something special. 7pt Singleton is cool (and we have been using alpha-alliances as the range before), but how about more points and more cards? Thus was born 10pt, 100 card singleton.

Rules

  • Exactly 100 cards Singleton deck (no duplicates except basic lands), no Sideboard.

  • Legal sets: A/B/U, Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends, The Dark, Fallen Empires, Homelands, Ice Age, Alliances + the promotional cards.

    • All non-foil reprints & languages with original artwork & frame are allowed, for example: IE/CE, Revised, Renaissance, 4th, 5th, ... Promos, Gold borders championship, Time Spiral, …

    • No proxies - we usually allow them, but singleton is special.

  • Deck can include cards worth max. 10 pts total from the pic below & IA/AL extras listed below it:

  • 2 pts: Zuran Orb, Lava Burst, Thawing Glaciers, Kjeldoran Outpost

  • 1pts:  Necropotence, Hymn to Tourach, Binding Grasp, Merchant Scroll, Stormbind, Demonic Consultation, Mana crypt

Notes on format

The 100-card limit forces you to dig a bit deeper into the card pool, but on the other hand it means particular comboes are harder to pull of. This maybe shows in the decklists below. All in all, well worth trying this out, but next time maybe with only 60 cards :-) On the other hand, can again not recommend enough adding the sets up to Alliances to the 7pt card pool.

On points:

  • Omitting Force of will from the points list was intentional, though it could be argued against.

  • Thawing Glaciers might still have too few points…

Results

We had six participants (or originally 7, but one had to drop mid-tournament). Round robin was in order, and resulted in this:
