Loppi 2024 - Spring
It was spring and time for live gathering at Loppi again. We played multiple runs of Iksa’s cube in the evenings - many thanks for bringing it! Swedish Old school tourney was played on Saturday and Sunday was reserved for 7pt Singleton.
Swedish OS
I played an odd amalgam featuring Rasputins, Diamond Valleys, robots and Rukh Eggs. It did not do well - in hindsight trying to do too many things at once. Second iteration of the deck, more focused, has done much better in testing - I’ll write a deck article about it after FOYO, also seen nice variants of the same idea played elsewhere in the world.
The format is probably familiar to everybody, but just in case http://oldschool-mtg.blogspot.com/p/banrestriction.html The results and decks were as follows:
Timo Ikonen
Tom Tasanen
Mikko Hyvärinen
Antti Turtiainen
Ville Saari
Joose Fjällström
Jonni Linnasaari
Raphael Gardette
Tuukka Muroke
Tommi Liikka
7 pt Singleton
There was a live 7pt Singleton tourney earlier this year in Helsinki, which got new people interested in this format, and also introduced two previously separate play groups to each other. Many people were interested in more of the format https://7pts-singleton.com/
I played same deck as in the previous tourney, with minor tweaks (Ring of Maruf “wish board” was replaced here by Wak-wak & Flying Carpet.
The results and decks of the tourney were as follows.
