Team Unified Nationals 2025
With one unfortunate drop, 7 teams gathered to battle over grinding 6 games and 7 rounds of round robin tournament, for the national title in Team Unified Old School. This intriguing format is most likely known to people from the Old School World Cup -event.

You play as a team, always sitting down from the left as A (Mine),B (Power Plant) and C (Tower). You face the opposing team A vs. C, B vs. B and C vs. A. If a team would face the same opponent in playoffs after swiss, the lower ranking team players shift one seat to the left, so that you get new matchups. Buttons marking your seating for the tournament looks cool and makes it easy to organize even after few beers.

So, you build 3 decks that when unified, must form a tournament legal deck. Your decks and sideboards within the team must follow the Swedish banned & restricted list, and can only have 1 of each restricted card, 4 of each other card in total, but you can have any number of basic lands distributed between your decks. You can split playsets within the team, so that player A and B could both have 2 Disenchant or 1+3 Disenchant in their decks and so fort. We played with the new banning of Library of Alexandria in the format. This one just makes sense. You have such an limited selection of answers to distribute for your 3 decks. Contemporary magic rules and errata are used as per. Swedish Old School, with the usual dexterity card exceptions (Chaos Orb and Falling Star).
I make an exception for this tournament and allow proxies. It is simply not viable for a lot of teams to build three competitive decks at the same time for unified, even if we would allow original art and frame reprints.

Our podium finishes. Round robin was a perfect structure for 7 and would have been even better for 8 teams. People got to play a lot of magic and the race was really close all the way to the finish line. In the end we had 3 teams with 4 wins and 2 losses. It came down to the breakers. In the end, Keldon Beerlords took it all down with the thinnest of margins. Team Dukke! came in second and Fuck Christ Ltd. finished third.
